Quarterly letter of the President - N° 2, June 2005
The development of the activities of the Arab Center for Education on International humanitarian law and the Human Rights (ACIHL) in the last few years required the creation of an antenna in Strasbourg, sits of the Organization the Council of Europe, the European Court of the humans right and of the European Parliament, legislative body of the European Union.
Thus, an office of ACHIL was created in Strasbourg in this summer and will be directed by the President and Miss Sakina Hassani (Algeria) associate member of ACHIL.
In addition, the activities of the Arab Center continue:
I. The President was on mission during two months (19 March-18 May 2005) in Yemen to carry out the following objectives:
II. During his stay in Yemen, the President and Mr. Mohamed Meklafi (Yemen) a founder member of ACHIL took part in teaching in several training courses intended for the Police officers and members of NGOs in Sann'a and Taiz.
III. Miss Rouieda EL-Hage (Lebanon) and Mr. Mahmoud Kandil (Egypt) founder members of ACHIL took part in the training course organized in Geneva Institute for the Human Rights in Geneva, from 28 March to 8 April 2005.

1. Prepare the plan for the amendments of national Yemeni laws primarily Crime and Penal Law (1994), Juvenile Care Law (1992/1997), and Child Right Law (2002).
2. Identify the legislative gaps and amendments that should be introduced to accomplish conformity/adequacy between these legislations and the Convention one Child Rights of 1989 and its additional Optional Protocols of 2000 as well as the international standards.
3. Present the recommendations and suggestions that the Parliament will hopefully adopt to improve these laws.
